New Art/New Audiences began in 2003 as a pilot project created by the Weatherspoon and funded by the North Carolina Arts Council to introduce adults in the greater Greensboro community to the Weatherspoon and contemporary art. Since then, over sixty individuals have participated in our workshops and over 600 of their friends and family members have been directly involved in Weatherspoon programs. In 2006, we launched Club Spoon, a mini-version of the succesful New Art/New Audiences program. Open to adults interested in learning about contemporary art and meeting others with similar interests, Club Spoon combines discussions, creative thinking strategies, and gallery experiences in a condensed three-night format. For information about future Club Spoon opportunities, including Club Spoon at Work, or the New Art/New Audiences project, please contact Ann Grimaldi, Curator of Education at (336) 334-5770 or weatherspoon@uncg.edu. New Art/New Audiences is a program of the Weatherspoon Art Museum and is sponsored by the North Carolina Arts Council, an agency funded by the State of North Carolina and the National Endowment for the Arts. |
