Collectors Talk: Hedy Fischer & Randy Shull photo

Hedy Fischer and Randy Shull live in Asheville, NC and have collected contemporary art for over 20 years. Their collection includes art from the United States, Latin America, and Europe and features artists such as Susan Rothenberg, Trenton Doyle Hancock, Kehinde Wiley, Rashid Johnson, Viola Frey, Tony Oursler, Rafael Lozano-Hemmer, Alison Saar, Mickalene Thomas, and many more. Fischer and Shull will be joined by Weatherspoon director Nancy Doll in a conversation on creativity, collecting art, and their commitment to the art community in Asheville.

Randy, himself an artist, works at the intersection of architecture, landscape design, furniture design and painting. Hedy brings with her a diverse range of experiences, from being a health educator to a poetry performer to a world traveler by bicycle to an interior designer.

Together they developed and created Pink Dog Creative, a vibrant warehouse turned arts and retail center in Asheville’s River Arts District. They curate and program Pink Dog Gallery, which shows rotating exhibitions. Pink Dog Creative has 25 working artists, two restaurants, and retail spaces.

This event is free and open to the public. It is sponsored by the Weatherspoon Art Museum Contemporary Collectors Group. Learn more at: http://weatherspoon.uncg.edu/participate/become-a-member/
