The Art of Making For Self
Jun 28, 10am - 4pm
Wednesday + Thursday, June 28 + 29; 10am-4pm (each day)
$55 WAM members; $70 Non-Members
Steve Cozart, instructor at Weaver Academy and an artist featured in the Art on Paper exhibition, will lead this workshop. Teachers will investigate ways to develop a consistent art practice while maintaining the busy schedule of an art instructor. Join us for two days packed with exercises, new media, and new techniques.
Here’s what to bring:
• 5 objects (things, photos, and texts) that are personally meaningful
• a brief written explanation of why you chose these 5 objects
• a sketchbook or ½” 3-ring binder
• pencils and pens of your choosing, including charcoal pencils of varying value.
Begin at WAM for inspiration and warm-up exercises before moving into the Printmaking Studio in Gatewood Art Building. Bring a bag lunch so that we can eat together during our break. Refrigerator and microwave are available at the museum. A certificate of participation will be provided and can be used for CEU credit with the prior approval of your school system.
Limited to 15 teachers. Contact Terri Dowell-Dennis at email@example.com or 336-256-1449. Pre-registration is required.
Thanks to generous support from the Charlotte W. Toler Art Education Endowment WAM is able to keep workshop costs at a nominal rate.
