Join the Greensboro Public Library for a free screening and discussion of Makers--The Women Who Made America: Women in Space (2013, 60 minutes) in conjunction with the One City, One Book community read of Hidden Figures by Margot Lee Shetterly.

The book, which was also an Oscar-nominated hit movie, is the incredible untold story of three African-American women working at NASA who served as the mathematical brains behind the successful launch of America’s first astronaut into orbit, John Glenn. Many of the women recruited for the Space Task Group came from Woman's College, now UNCG. The documentary film traces the history of women pioneers in the U.S. space program.

Every other year, the Greensboro Public Library along with many community partners, lead lively programs of discussion, films, theatrical productions, readings, and more to engage the entire community in the themes of a chosen book. This year's work was selected through community input and public voting. Learn about more OCOB events in Greensboro, including writing workshops and panel discussions, at: or call 336-373-3617.
