Location: Museum auditorium

Bringing awareness to everyday experiences through mindfulness of our bodies, our thoughts, and the many wonders inside and all around us can help build resilience in times of stress and help us connect more fully to one's life. Susan Poulos, senior facilitator at Deep River Sangha in Greensboro and mindfulness guide, will guide participants in an introduction to mindfulness practices including meditation, mindful walking and eating, and gentle movement.

This FREE 5-week series is open to all especially those with little or no experience. No special clothing and no registration is required. Classes will build on each other with a review each week. Questions: Contact Ann Grimaldi, Weatherspoon Art Museum, ann_grimaldi@uncg.edu

Susan Poulos has been studying meditation and healing since her teens, but her dedicated practice began when she encountered the art of mindful living through Thich Nhat Hanh, a Vietnamese Buddhist monk, peace activist, and spiritual teacher. In 2007 she was ordained as a member of the core community of the Order of Interbeing by Thich Nhat Hanh, and practices at North American monasteries, at Plum Village in France, and with local and regional Mindfulness communities. She is a senior facilitator for Deep River Sangha in Greensboro and teaches mindfulness in area schools, colleges, community centers, in retirement homes, and to refugees.

Support for this program comes from the Fred B. Lopp and Deborah L. Schandler ('40) Endowed Education Fund of the Weatherspoon Art Museum.
