One Word: Plastic

  • Sep 7, 2003 – Dec 7, 2003
Installation view: Weatherspoon Art Museum, 2003.

Plastic, perhaps more than any other modern innovation, has been both heralded and derided. It has been seen as the symbol of progress and the bane of our environment. Artists Linda Besemer, Ian Dawson, Tony Feher, Carlos Mollura, and Shirley Tse have created work that explores the aesthetic and conceptual possibilities of plastic. Together, these artists mine some of the complex and simultaneous cultural meanings that reside in this synthetic product found everywhere around us.

We have six galleries located on the first and second levels of the museum, view our gallery map.
