Established in 1942, the Weatherspoon Art Museum houses one of the finest collections of modern and contemporary American art in the Southeastern United States. The collection is comprised of more than 5,000 paintings, sculpture, photographs, and works on paper primarily from the 1940s to the present. The Weatherspoon Art Museum exhibition schedule focuses on permanent collection as well as special temporary exhibitions, many of which are of national prominence and originated by the Weatherspoon curatorial staff. Educational programs include lectures, films, and gallery tours that provide visitors with the opportunity to learn directly from works of art, artists, and scholars. Free Admission/Easy Access Parking & admission are free. Located at the corner of Spring Garden and Tate Streets on the campus of The University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Reserved parking spaces for museum visitors are located behind the building. Request a parking permit at the information desk. The Museum is wheelchair accessible. Tours Free docent-led tours are available throughout the year for school, university, and community groups. Please call at least three weeks in advance for docent-led or self-guided tours and to schedule parking for groups. Click here or call the Education department at (336) 334-5770 for more information.
