Standard Searches

To perform a standard search, type in the last name of the artist you are looking for. For example, for Henri Matisse you need only type in Matisse. You may use upper or lower case letters. If you are unsure of the spelling, type in the first three letters of the artist’s last name followed by the % sign. For example, type in mat% and this will display all works by Matisse, as well as works by artists such as Richard Matthews whose last name begins with "mat."

If you know the first name only, you may search on that information, but be aware all artists with that name will be displayed. If you only know the title of the work you are looking for, or a part of the title, you may search on that information. For example, if you are looking for Still Life with Flowers, you may search on that information, or type in still% and this will display all works of art that contain that word.

Advanced Searches

Enter information for as many fields as you have data. For example, you may enter the artist’s name, the title of the work, the date, the medium or the accession number. You need not fill out all the fields. As with standard searches, enter the artist’s last name first. Your search will look for all of the words you enter.
