Birney Imes: Juke Joint

  • Jul 3, 2005 – Sep 18, 2005
Installation view: Weatherspoon Art Museum, 2005.

Birney Imes, editor of the Commercial Dispatch in Columbus, Mississippi, maintains a well-deserved status as one of the finest photographers in the South. His exhibition, Juke Joint, presents a selection of thirty color photographs taken while he travelled throughout the Delta between 1983 and 1989. The mysterious interiors were shot with time exposure to convey the blur of human occupancy within these unique and iconic atmospheres.

Birney Imes will talk about his work on Thursday, September 8, 2005, at 7 pm.

We have six galleries located on the first and second levels of the museum, view our gallery map.
