Rosemarie Fiore: Falk Visiting Artist
- Jan 16, 2016 – Apr 17, 2016
- The Louise D. and Herbert S. Falk, Sr. Gallery
Fabriano paper, 41 x 48 in. Museum purchase with funds from the Dillard
Fund for the Dillard Collection, 2010.
Rosemarie Fiore is known for her colorful and dynamic Firework Drawings. While her technique may seem to border on chaos, through experience Fiore has come to wield remarkable control over this combustible medium. She uses its volatile character to interplay with vivid pigments on paper and create a range of bursts, arcs, and projectile-like forms. Fiore worked with UNCG art students in the fall to create her largest firework tool to date and will perform the making of a drawing during her residency.
Fiore earned her BA at the University of Virginia, Charlottesville, and MFA at The School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Her exhibition history includes multiple solo and group exhibitions around the country. She is the recipient of a NYC Department of Cultural Affairs Arts Fund Grant, Milton and Sally Avery Arts Fellowship, and Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture Fellowship, among other honors.
